It belongs to second-generation cephalosporins, broad-spectrum, resistant to many common bacterial enzymes, and works by stopping bacteria from building cell walls — killing them and clearing infection. ⚙️ Dosage & Administration
- Must take WITH FOOD — greatly improves absorption & reduces stomach upset
- Adults / children >40 kg: Standard: 5 mL (250 mg) 2 times daily (every 12 hours); severe cases up to 10 mL twice daily
- Children <40 kg / 3 months–12 years: Dosed by weight: 20–30 mg/kg/day, split into 2 doses
- Example: 10 kg = 2 mL (100 mg) 2x daily; 20 kg = 4 mL (200 mg) 2x daily
- How to use:
- Add water step-by-step to granules, shake very well until fully mixed
- Shake vigorously BEFORE EVERY DOSE
- Measure exact amount; can mix with milk/fruit juice if needed
- Finish full 5–7 day course — even if better; prevents resistance & relapse
- Storage:
- Dry powder: cool, dry, below 30°C, away from light
- After mixing: refrigerate (2–8°C), use within 7–10 days, discard leftover
⚠️ Side Effects
Most mild & temporary:
- Common: diarrhea, loose stools, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, headache, rash, or oral thrush
- Less common: dizziness, drowsiness, temporary tooth discoloration (brushes off)
