Description
Each capsule contains 500 mg of carbocisteine, an amino acid derivative. Indications
Used for the symptomatic treatment of respiratory disorders associated with excessive, thick, and difficult-to-expel sputum, including:
- Acute and chronic bronchitis
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Bronchial asthma
- Bronchiectasis
- Sinusitis
- Otitis media with effusion
- Post-nasal drip
Dosage and Administration
Adults and children 12 years and older:
- Initial dose: 1 capsule (500 mg) 3 times daily, taken after meals to minimize stomach discomfort
- Maintenance dose: May be reduced to 1 capsule 2 times daily once improvement is seen
- Duration: As directed by a physician
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to carbocisteine or any component of the formulation
