Amoxicillin 250mg Suspension is a prescription-only, liquid antibiotic form of amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin-type medicine. Each 5 milliliters (mL) of prepared suspension contains 250 mg amoxicillin (as amoxicillin trihydrate), formulated as a powder that you mix with water before use. It is fruit-flavored, sweetened, and designed for children, infants, or anyone who cannot swallow capsules or tablets. It works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls, leading to their death and clearing the infection; it does not work on viruses like colds, flu, or COVID.

- Active: 250 mg amoxicillin per 5 mL
- Inactive: Sucrose, fruit flavor (strawberry/berry/orange), sodium benzoate, xanthan gum, citrates, sweeteners, and preservatives

⚙️ Dosage & How to Use
- Adults / children >40 kg: Usually 5 mL (250 mg) taken 3 times daily, every 8 hours. Severe cases: up to 10 mL 3x daily.
- Children <40 kg / Infants: Dosed by weight — 20–90 mg/kg/day, split into 2 or 3 doses. Example: 10 kg child = 2 mL (100 mg) 3x daily; always follow doctor’s exact amount.
- How:
- Add water in 2 parts to powder, shake well until fully mixed
- Shake bottle vigorously before EVERY dose
- Take with or without food; swallow directly or mix with little water/juice
- Complete full 5–7 day course even if feeling better — prevents resistance & relapse
- Storage: Before mixing – keep dry, room temp. After mixing – store in fridge, use within 7–14 days (check label), discard leftover.
⚠️ Side Effects
Most are mild, go away quickly:
- Common: diarrhea, loose stools, nausea, stomach ache, vomiting, mild rash, or thrush (white patches in mouth/itchiness)
- Less common: dizziness, tiredness, change in tooth color (temporary, brushes off)
- Serious / Warning:
- DO NOT use if you ever had allergy/reaction to penicillin, amoxicillin, or cephalosporins
- Signs of allergy: severe rash, swelling face/lips/tongue, trouble breathing — go to hospital immediately
- Rare: severe prolonged diarrhea, liver issues, blood changes
